Our Puppies

Raising Our Brevmac Pups

We usually plan a couple of litters a year and our puppies are born and raised in our home.  We spend quite a bit of time planning our breedings from O.F.A. health tested parents to ensure that our puppies have the best opportunity for a long and healthy life.

From day one, our pups are handled while we ensure that all pups are receiving appropriate time at the milk bar.

We  record our pups weight twice a day and make note of each pup's progress.  Once on their feet, pups take over our kitchen where they learn to accept everyday sounds and happenings as well as have a large area for play.  We spend several hours a day interacting with our pups and providing positive experiences. We begin assisting the moms with feeding by introducing pups at 3 weeks of age to raw meals consisting of ground chicken, beef, organ meats, tripe and goat’s milk made into a gruel that pups lap up.  Pups then “turn on” to the sounds of our voices and are just as thrilled to see us as they are their mom!

Puppies receive their first vaccinations, microchip, and health certificate from our Veterinarian prior to going to their new homes between eight and nine weeks of age.  Their new families will also receive a copy of parents health clearances, our Brevmac Contract, Canadian Kennel Club registration when processed and some puppy food to get their pup off to the right start.

News!!!

On January 27th Lark [Ch Brevmacs Songbird] welcomed 11 beautiful puppies sired by Storm [Grand Champion Bonett Bride Fire Tower].  Puppies and mom are doing great and Storm is pretty proud of his 7 boys and 4 girls.  Bruce and Ev are a little bleary eyed but thrilled that all went well.

This a repeated breeding that 4 years ago produced our boy Grier!  He has been a joy as well as a fabulous show dog.  For this, Lark's final litter, we went back to a tried and true combination.
